A number of the 121 employees of Apple's San Diego-based artificial intelligence (AI) section would probably lose their jobs as a result of the company closing.

The company's decision was communicated to the group, known as Data Operations Annotations, on Wednesday. Members of the group have been requested to go to Austin, Texas, and amalgamate with the team that is carrying out the same tasks there.

The bulk of the US Data Operations Annotations team is already headquartered at our campus in Austin, where we are assembling the team. A corporate representative confirmed the tech giant's plan to relocate, saying that "everyone currently employed will have the opportunity to continue their role with Apple at Austin."

However, she continued, Apple is still "deeply committed to San Diego," where it has "significantly" expanded. California is home to San Diego and Cupertino, the headquarters of the Tim Cook-led company.

The offer

The manufacturer of iPhones has given its employees till the end of February to make a decision regarding their relocation. Individuals who decline the proposal will be let go by April 26. However, most workers don't want to change jobs, according to reports.

Individuals who accept the offer will get a stipend of $7000 and be relocated by the end of June. In contrast, those who decline will receive a six-month health insurance policy, four weeks of severance pay (plus an extra week for each year of employment), and layoffs.

By listening to voice service inquiries and assessing if Siri, the company voice assistant, understood and responded to requests correctly, the team is in charge of making Siri better. It concentrates on using Siri in Hebrew, English, Portuguese, Arabic, French, and Spanish (dialects).

The division maintains offices in China, India, Ireland, and Spain in addition to the US.
